Letter to Congress

One of our group's members, Scottmj01, sent me the letter below that he is sending to his Congressional representatives. He generously invites us to steal his letter, attach our name to it, and send it to our reps, too. Think about taking him up on the offer-- we don't all have to reinvent the wheel and compose brand new, fresh, brilliant letters every time we sit down at our computer. I have made a file with letters I've sent, sample letters like this one below, and the names and addresses of my state's reps. It's all there for me to copy and paste onto a new piece of mail, address it, and zip it off anytime I want. One thing I do differently is, I don't send letters this long to Congress-- I'll take chunks and send them one at a time. Because their offices are flooded with mail, I think short notes might have a better chance of being read...
Here is a letter I sent to my Representatives and Senators. If you want to, copy it and send it yourself and forward it on to as many people as you can. If we can flood the congress with letters than maybe it will at least give those who feel they way we do some comfort and those who do not some reason for pause if not influencing a favorable outcome. What do you think?

Enclosed is a list of actions that I, as a tax-payingcitizen of this country, respectfully ask you, an elected representative of the people, to under take on my behalf.
1) Stop Attorney General Ashcroft from denying information to the victims of September 11th, 2001 in their court proceedings.Furthermore I ask that you start a public investigation of The White House to determine who knew what and when. Many of us are not satisfied, do to a number of discrepancies in disseminated information, that no one knew that terrorist would use commercial aircraft as weapons of mass destruction. We are owed the truth even if it does destroy this administration. If the intelligence and law enforcement community were as incompetent as we are led to believe, than how can throwing even more money in their direction improve the results? As regards corporate accountability, do not fail to investigate and vigorously prosecute any and all perpetrators of fraud regardless of who they are or position they hold, public or private.
2) Call for the reversal of U.S. support for continued Israeli violations of International Law in the Palestinian Occupied Territories. My Tax money is funding one of the world’s most well armed Military powers whose Government policies of racial inequality stand contrary to American values. Recent legislation calling for exclusion of non-Jews and the Attacks against innocent men, women, children and international journalists are an abomination. I agree that governments have a duty to protect their citizens, but are these indeed the measures that are necessary to do it?
3)Investigate wide spread claims of Media bias and censorship by mainstream press outlets. We the People are only as Free as our Press. Many journalists have been attacked, suppressed and even fired for reporting stories that run contrary to this Administration and its Lobby’s interests including Corporate and Domestic/Foreign policy. If we are to depend on the Media for information to help us make intelligent determinations than it is your duty to insure that it is fair and represents many points of view.
4)Do everything in your power to insure that our constitutional rights are not violated in the quest for safety and an end to terrorism. The USAPatriot Act is very vague and could allow for abuse. Failure to defend personal freedom is exactly what terrorist would like to see. Furthermore, our rights were not an impediment in the prosecution of the Oklahoma City bombing or the first WTC attack. Why should they be so now?
Thank you for your time and I hope, in the interest of restoring my faith in our Government and our Social/Judicial/Economic institutions, that you will hear these pleas and take the appropriate steps to do so.
